you may have noticed
the last several entries have been more written based then i normally do, some of you may be wondering why? the simple fact is i really want to regain some confidence in my writing and writing style. i need to re-articulate my and improve my writing. the biggest reason for this is i am thinking very seriously about graduate school to get my mfa. something i do not talk about a whole lot is that when i was a kid i had some learning disabilities. speech, reading and spelling were my areas of difficulty, and i still have major troubles with spelling. i think the severity was heightened because i was in the highest level classes in the early part of elementary, so i feel i messed some basics at an important part of my development. by 4th or 5th grade i was in the lowest level classes. by high school i was in special classes for english along with the regular english classes that were offered. 9th grade i read at a 5-6th grade level.well this is the time i discovered d&d and fantasy books, and started to read ferociously. by the time i graduated i was reading at my grade level and my vocabulary was much higher then most of the people i knew. i still stumble and i read rather slowly but i have a wonderful understanding of what i read. i also have a quirky way of writing, but i don't like to sound like everyone else so i am fine with it!

mood
my mood is quite a bit better today, although i did not get much in the sleep department last night. on the bright side i did make a wonderful stake on the grill last night, with a mixed green salad (with cucumbers and tomatoes and a garlic vinaigrette dressing) and roasted mushrooms on the side. it was very tasty to say the least!now i have to focus on some art tonight after work, i need to be much more busy with it then i have, i am thinking of doing a series of abstracts based off of space/time, sort of like a landscape but much more painterly forming the open (spaces) areas more as objects and how they interact with the real objects, i think this will help me with the negative spaces in my figurative works. speaking of the figure, i really need to start thinking about the direction i want to move with these, not the abstract ones but the more expressionist/impressionist ones, i want to build in allegory/story more into the work. I think that the focus of these should be political in nature (and spiritual or lack there of). a title (for the series) has been swimming in my head for quite so time, i think i will use this as a starting point. the tentative title is "of saints and of prostitutes". at least it is a starting point for thought and for conversation, plus it is a good juxtaposing metaphors. i would be interested some thoughts from you all.

rest of the weekend
after Friday’s fish fry, there was some marry making to be had. we met up with some friends for happy hour for some beers on the patio. I always enjoy sitting outside with friends watching the world go by, as I can be an avid people watcher, and there are always a good mix of people walking on Lyndale avenue on nice days.Dave was in the hankering for a stake, so he took some of us out to the Monticarlo. it was not crowed at all, people must have been observing the no meat on good Friday thing. We all had a good time and enjoyed ourselves greatly, not to mention eating like pigs, the girls had the fillet, except shae, she had fried chicken since she is not a beef eater, dave and I had the new york stripe. from there we all went our separate ways and I crashed hard.Saturday was laid back, went for a killer long bike ride and did some art and house work and finished up taxes, then wondered to Stella’s house for a bbq. I was tired so I left early. Sunday was brunch with the folks which was uneventful and then to filio for early evening get out of the house thing, joked with varying strangers who all seemed in good moods and talked a little politics too.yesterday took the bike out for a bit, and grilled pork chops and green beans, oh so good! first grilling of the season, I think I will do a roast soon, I am getting better at the grill, but must still learn a lot!friday eveningshae and annenew downtown library opening soon as seen from my bikearbby's from parking lot by stelle's house, also you will not the liqour store is convenently to close to the party, another reason to leave early

friday was a...
friday was a beautiful day, i ended up taking a half day from work, and met my folks for a fish fry in the afternoon (i did not do it for good friday or anything like that, i just like (free) fish) in my home town. it was held at a local bar called the city club (i use to mow the lawn there as a kid). i ran into sever people i graduated with, one of whom is my 3rd cousin staci, the other was a jock in my grade named tim. i knew i should have known who staci was but her name just wasn't coming to mind. basically i just said hi to her. i talked to tim a bit more, found out he is married with kids and works at the furniture store in town, makes me happy that i moved on from the small town life...it was nice to hang out with the folks and have good fish and the like, but it was nice to get home early and go out with my friends later that nighthere is my mom, posing as a diva:my dad does not like his photo taken, so i had to get him when he was not looking:overview of the bar:

a raprieve
minnesota is now in full tilt on spring and i am loving it, yesterday was our first 70's degree day. the trees are just starting to bud and by later today or tomorrow there will be a beautiful green haze in the trees. so yesterday i took a half day off. got home at 12, by 12:30 i was biking around the lakes, down the greenway, to downtown, to the walker, then to the commuter bike trail which took me past hidden beach on ceder lake, then back to the other lakes back home. hour and a half was the total time, then there was some dinking around the house (laundry and the like) and then off to happy hour, few beers out side watching people, it was stellar, then off to uptown for a little walking around, i also bought the new modern painters.today i wish i was off again but i think i will take friday off (half day i think) to go to a fish fry with the folks in my home town, but i am not sure about that yet either. tonight i shall do taxes, and lay low

my goodness
yesterday i woke up with my left eye all bloodshot and hurting, not the right one just the left, and for no good or apparent reason. i was dreaming that someone was in the other room, like a thief or something, it was one of those i am sleeping but half awake dreams, to real for compfort creepy feeling dreams, back to the point, in the dream i was desperately trying to open that eye and i could not, it was like when you have pink eye and your eye is all crusted shut...so here is what my eye looked like after about 1/2 an hour of being awake and looking a lot better then what it was to begin with~
